Biomasses are renewable resources ​because the CO2   emitted to produce energy is the same the plants have absorbed to grow and that, once they’re dead, would return into the atmosphere through the normal deterioration processes of the organic matter.

Nowadays, biomass can be used to power high-performances (up to 90%) boilers, so it is economically competitive with many fossil fuels.
